Can someone explain to me how to  test a motor using my meter?

You can test the common and start winding for resistance.
This does not mean the motor will run.
You can leave wires attached and apply power to the motor to check for voltage.
If the motor has voltage and does not run,the motor is bad.
Take a Kid fishing.
