GE Washer WPRE6150H1WT Leaks Water?
« on: January 31, 2012, 03:21:01 PM »

The customer says their GE washer leaks a little water.
I will be looking at it in the morning. Don't often work on GE appliance.

What should I look for, besides water on the floor?  :2funny:

1) fill & drain hoses
2)overfill hose
3)pump & pump hose

i find leaks most of time coming from #2 due to air dome hose clogged or valve not shutting off fast enough.

Seems like the way the drain hose attaches to the back of the washer would be a week point on these washers. I have only seen a few over the years, but I always thought it was odd how they go about attaching the drain hose.

Check tub seal, drain hose, overflow tube. Those are where I see most of the leaks.

Flood hose # 853 if they put in to much soap it will leak on floor of washer. Also if shifter coil is bad the whole tub will spin and water will come out flood hose. Also look at standpipe as water maybe coming out of there.

Could not find anything leaking.
Took the front off and ran some water through it a few times and everything was dry.

The inside panels looked like they had some dried soap/water residue on them as did the base of the washer, but after filling it full and pumping it out a few times I did not find any leaks.

What do you think about that?

ge is funny like that, it will leak sometimes, i had a cust. like that a few times, i ended up replacing trans, tub seal, & tub on one & she still called & said it was leaking. 2nd. trip, i replaced fill valve, pressure switch, & hose. 3 weeks later she called & said it was leaking again. i ended up giving cust. a buyout.she excepted & bought new washer.

The GE that I own would occasionally leak.  I found gunk in the hose to the pressure switch.  Cleaned it out and haven't had an issue since.

The inside panels looked like they had some dried soap/water residue on them as did the base of the washer

Most of the time this means that the tub seal has leaked on the transmission then the transmission slings this water all over the panels during spin. It is not unusual for this to be intermitting sometimes it will only leak after it has washed a while and sometimes if you spin it out then fill it will leak.

As for the side of the panels, the line of water/soap started near the top of the panel. About the same height as the top of the tub.

Ok that is too high for the tub seal. Maybe it is too much suds, which would explain why it didnít leak for you.

I had a guy call me out 5 times about his GE washer leaking and I never did find a leak. Then he said forget it bring me a new washer.

It so happened I needed a washer because I was moving in my house so I took it and put it in my house. It has been running in my house for 6 years and hasnít leaked a drop. (Knock on wood).
