Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling Properly
« on: April 10, 2008, 09:58:25 PM »

Model # GLRS237ZAW3, The complaint was the refrigerator section was cooling fine, but items in the freezer were not as frozen as they should be and the ice cream was soft. I did a quick check and found the evaporator fan was working and there was good airflow through the air damper in the upper rear of the refer section. While the doors were open, I noticed the mullion strip (the section between the refer and freezer section) was very warm to the touch so I pulled the rear access panel only to find the condenser fan was not running and the compressor and condenser were very hot. Basically there was so much lint, hair, etc., the fan could not even rotate let alone provide good airflow. Without proper heat transfer from the sealed system, the evaporator cannot properly remove heat from the freezer section resulting in the compressor running all the time, but not cooling properly. Cleaned the condenser coils and the fan shroud so now the refrigerator cools just fine.
