Frigidaire Dryer
« on: April 09, 2008, 02:51:10 PM »

I have a Frigidaire Dryer that is over 10 years old.  I have had the drum replaced two times under the warranty.  The first two drums had a coating on them and this kept coming off onto the clothes.  So then a steel drum was put in.  Now the clothes have a red mark that gets on them.  It appears the drum is not centered as you can feel the red velvet strip in certain places and can also feel a white plastic strip that appears to be coming out.  The dryer makes a scraping sound now.  Is this something I can fix myself?

Hi KarenSutton

I would remove the drum and take a look at the drum bearing in the back of the dryer.
Also check the pads that the front of the drum rides on.

You can enter your model number in the box on the left side "Diagrams, Photos & Schematics" to see some exploded views.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

I fixed one on Tuesday. The glides on the front probably need replacing along with the rear bearing. This is a pretty easy job.

you should also change the bottom seal on the dryer front, this is the red strip you speak of, its white when its new, its red now from wear and rust
