Maytag washer MAV5920eww
«

I have a Maytag washer that continues to agitate when it is spinning. As a result, it doesn't spin the water out very well. I have been told the
transmission
is bad or that the cog that shifts from spin to agitate needs to be replaced. Any ideas?
Does anyone have a service manual for this?
Model
MAV5920eww
Thanks.

When I search for your model number this is the service manual I come up with.

Sounds like a transmission problem to me, wonder what the other technicians think about it.

Yep, that's a bad transmission. The part,
35-6615
, is expensive and you need a spanner wrench,
35-2968
, and brake tool,
12002012
, to install. Those tools are no longer available from Whirlpool. Might be time for a new washer.
