washer will fill and agitate, but will have a loude clanging noise while it starts to spin,if it does spin all the way it is OK.  sometimes the thermo will cut out and it will not spin up.  drain is working fine

WBSE2090A2WW ? Check the motor clutch. Check the tub suspension rods (all 4). More than likely the bottom bearing dropping out of the tranny though.
