Whirlpool Microwave Touchpad Inoperative
« on: March 29, 2008, 05:33:22 PM »

Model # MT4110SPB2, this is a small counter top microwave that functioned fine, but there were a series of keys on the touch pad that would not take inputs. I removed the cover and could see the ribbon cable was seated properly in the connector, but when I removed the cable, I saw a crease in the plastic and one of the wire traces was split in two. This can happen when the cable is installed and pinched between the panel and the microwave housing. Then after the vibration of use, the trace finally splits and any keys associated with it will stop functioning. Replaced the switch membrane (the old one peels off, and the new one sticks on) and now it works great, part # 8204890
