Whirlpool Washer Won't Complete Cycle
« on: March 26, 2008, 12:26:47 PM »

Model # LHW0050PQ3, The complaint from the customer was they would start a wash, hear the door latch and then when they walked by a bit later, would notice the machine was doing nothing and the start button was flashing. This washer like most front load washers will not start unless the door is closed. Most will also go through a safety latch at the beginning, meaning they will latch the door, either add some water and/or tumble the drum and then unlock the door so if you stuffed your little sister in the basket, she could get out before the full cycle started. The problem that occurred on this particular unit was the door would latch, tumble, then unlatch for the safety pause. Then when it re latched the door, the switch contacts would not always close the second time telling the electronics the door wasn't closed. The result is a flashing start light telling the customer to press start again. This can be an intermittent problem often repaired by making an inner door adjustment, but this one would not start at all so the door latch switch had to go.
