Maytag Washer Moves/Rotates Over Time
«
on:
March 13, 2011, 10:44:58 AM »
My Maytag washer moves ever so slightly every time it is used. It seems to rotate counter clockwise a bit each time, so I will have to physically spin/slide it back into position every week or so. It does not rock when empty or full. Any suggestions on how to get this to stop. Please no jokes about how "washers are supposed to rotate," please.
Thanks in advance!

What is the model number?
I have seen some of the rubber caps on the bottom of the feet on the top load washer get hard with age and then they don't grip much anymore.

I looked up your model number and it does have the rubber caps on the bottom of the feet that I was thinking about.
rubber cap
I would check them out to see what kind of shape they are in and if they are hard and/or smooth on the bottom I would replace them.

They seem hard, since I couldn't deform them with my thumbnail, for example. Sounds like they need replacing. Agreed?

What type of floor? I have seen new floors so smooth that a washer will shimmy around. Best fix I have found is to put 2 round pieces of the material they use for no slip steps ( like black rough sand paper with the 3M sticky on 1 side) under the 2 front feet. I even carry some around in my truck for customer repairs.
