Duet Washer - Plastic Pieces in wash
« on: October 25, 2010, 11:29:36 AM »

Hi All,

I have looked around and didn't see a reference to what just happened.

My Duet washer (after many years of service), just started to put pieces of white plastic into our wash.

I pulled back the grey boot and the white inside ring has fallen apart.  I wanted to know if there was a reference on taken the unit apart myself and replacing the parts?

Thanks,
-g

You got big problems brotha!!!!   Your inner tub is broke, causing it to drop down in the spin cycle an rip apart the front half of the outer tub.   You 100% need a new front outer tub, and a new inner tub.  You may need the rear outer tub as well.   If you were to pull the back panel off, you most likely will see that the spin pulley has gouged the rear portion of the drum.

Now to the bright side, Alot of the older machines had a 10 year part replacement warranty on all the parts you need.  Check your owners manual for the warranty terms.  If it is covered, you will need to pay a Authorized Whirlpool servicer to come to your house and change it out.
Authorized Samsung, Electrolux, Whirlpool, GE, Fisher Paykal, and Maytag Servicer with over 10 years experience.
