Kenmore Elite Dishwasher display and push button problem
« on: July 27, 2010, 03:11:31 AM »

I have a 10 year old Sears Kenmore dishwasher model 665.1692001.
The symptom is only half of the touch switches work and only a portion of the display LED showing the time remaining on the cycle work.  I'm trying to determine whether the display panel or the circuit board is bad to make sure that I order the right part or whether their might be another part in the dishwasher that would cause the partial display and button problem.

The button switches still work for time saver, quick rinse, hi-temp scrub, sani-rinse and air dry so I can still get a few wash cycles to work but the buttons for anti-bacterial, pots & pans, normal wash and china gentle don't work and only partial time display shows up on the front panel.

I have taken the door panel apart to see what components are inside and if their was any obvious physical damage and everything looks fine so I put it all back together.

Help to determine which is the bad part would be greatly appreciated.

If the display/switch panel part needs to be replaced do you know of a place that I could buy a functioning used white display? New they are expensive at around 160 dollars which is about 25% of the cost of a new dishwasher.
Thanks, Steve

You would be best served to order both parts.
