LG Tromm Washer Gasket Replacement
« on: July 07, 2010, 04:26:24 PM »

Hello all, I am new here and I am about to tackle the job of replacing the washing machine door gasket on my LG Tromm. I need to post the model number, but it is the one with th 3 holes that get clogged and gets all full of mold and mildew. Does anyone have a step by step manual on how to change that out? I have the gasket already, but it sounds like i need some specialty pliers? Thanks in advance!

be sure to also get ther inner tub tool which is more difficult to put on, using the wrong tool for this cost me 13 stitches. also if you have a water bottle with a little bit of dish soap added helps get the gasket on easier.

The outer spring tool is unnecessary, just use your knee and both hands.  I haven't done a boot replacement on these yet, so I don't know if the inner spring tool is needed or not.

Yeah, you REALLY want that inner spring tool. The tension on that inner spring/wire makes it really difficult to do without the tool. a Vise-grip locking pliers on each end of that spring is another way.

You really need both tools.  The springs are really strong and it's almost impossible to put them on the boot.

Although I haven't changed any LG door boots, I've had a few front panels off.  I haven't found the front clamp to be any more difficult to install than a Whirlpool clamp.  I hold the left end of the spring in place with my knee.  Then I use both hands to work the wire into place.  Takes maybe 15 seconds.
