kenmore range display quite dim
« on: March 22, 2010, 09:06:36 PM »

I can barely see the vacuum fluorescent display on my kenmore range and oven.  In fact when I turn on the oven I need to turn the lights out or cup both hands around the display to be able to read it.  As near as I can tell the control board is NLA.

Anyone have a schematic for this?  I'm thinking with a proper schematic it wouldn't be that hard to fix.  Without one, its more of a challenge and I need to be able to cook!

Is there a well known failure mechanism (and hopefully a fix) for these units?

Thanks
-Dan

its not the light that is dim, it is the timer/clock/oven temperature display.

It has been my experience IF you could get a GE replacement part for a stove as old as this one is, it may be a retrofit and only authorized servicers have the service bulletins, however they will sell you the part, just not the instructions.
