Kenmore Elite Dryer
« on: March 19, 2010, 06:26:29 PM »

When starting the dryer I push the start button, it starts but as soon as I release the button it stops.  If I hold the button in it runs a bit then stops.

Model 110.63932102

You have a broken belt. Confirm it by opening the door and pushing against the door switch and pressing start. This video shows how to get into that fabulous dryer of yours:

I took the front panel off and examined the belt.  It is on the drum firmly.  I rolled the drum by hand and it turns fine.  What would the next step be?  Thank you so much.

I had forgot about that dang relay. Really I have not come across that yet, but I had read that answer from you in another post now that I think about it.

Hi I switched the relays, pushed the start button.  Would not stay one without holding the button in, as long as I held the button the dryer would work, however, it did not heat while doing this.  I replaced the start button, as it was what I thought was the original problem, and it did not change the situation.  What would be a next step?  The motor sounds good, not loud electrical sounds when it starts.  Sounds normal.  Also the belt switch clicks normal on and off as well.

Did the Heater stay ON while holding the Start Button before you changed the Relays ?

Maybe both Relays are bad (or the Controller).

Try swapping them back, to see if the Heater stays ON while holding the Start Button.

If it's not a bad Motor Relay, it may be a bad Controller Board, not the Start Button.

Ok controller board.  There is a dark spot on it by R2 and  R32.  Could that be the issue?

If there is not 48 volts going to the relay for the motor after you release the start button, the board is bad.
