Well, it worked ok for 8 months, but now the dryer is acting up again. This time the dryer lights, and gets hot. The burner will cycle a couple of times, then the burner will stop re-lighting.  ???

If I shut the dryer off, and let it set a few minutes, it will light the burner for a few cycles, then quit heating after a couple of cycles.

Getcha some more coils. This time, find out what's wrong with your vent so the dryer won't keep short-cycling on hi-limit . This causes duress on the ignitor and coils from the constant cycling.  Have your vent run cleaned if you don't have the means to do so properly yourself.

I can tell by all the various issues you have had so far that your problem is entirely vent-related.

I checked the vent run, and it's clear. Just a slight bit of lint dust inside the vent pipe.

The flapper on the outside of the house is clear... no wasp nest, bird nest or lint ball in the vent flapper.

The filter screen is clear.

The run from the dryer to the outside is less than 2 feet.

If there is a vent issue, I can't find one externally.

I just checked the temps at the exhaust on the back of the dryer. The burner lights at around 135 degrees, but now runs to over 175 deg. before it shuts off. That's way higher than it was doing after I replaced the thermal fuse.

I'm thinking high limit sensor?

Depending upon your thermometer and where you are checking it,that may not be too bad.

I'm using a Raytek infra red temp gun, (I forget what model) and was taking the temp in the exhaust vent in the back of the dryer, right where it turns 90 degrees upwards towards the top of the dryer.

That is the control thermostat. Should not get above 160f on cotton setting

This dryer doesn't have a "cotton" setting. All it has is "Automatic High Heat", "Automatic Low Heat", and "Timed High Heat".

I was testing on "Timed High Heat".

Well no matter what the settings are their is still a thermister or control thermostat mounted on the blower housing that judges the air temp.

OK... installed a new 4 wire bias t-stat. Now the igniter comes on, but I get no fire.  :tickedoff:

Put the old t-stat back in... still nothing.

I'm about ready to chunk this piece off the deck.

Check your connections on the gas coils. They may not be in all the way.

Check your connections on the gas coils. They may not be in all the way.

I took the dryer apart. The coils were plugged in. I fired the dryer up to check for power to the coils, and the burner lit. It cycled, then wouldn't refire.

At least since it's apart.. it will be easier to throw off the deck. :2funny:

I would try a new set of coils, their cheap enough. Make sure the covers are all in place when you test the dryer so you don't disrupt the air flow. There should be a small access cover in the rear or sight hole in the front of the dryer to watch the flame. If you run certain gas dryers with the covers off it will trip the high limit

OK... installed the new gas coils and put it all back together. With the old bias t-stat, it cycles now, off about 175 degrees, on about 135 at the exhaust, just like before it died.

I put the new bias t-stat in, and now it goes over 200 degrees before it cuts off.   ???

Yeah JW... all the numbers on the replacement were the same as the original one. Both are FSP units.

I put the old one back in.
