with the lid open reset the water level to see if more water comes into the machine, if water does enter it means your lid switch does not shut off the water during fill, your lid switch does stop the motor for agitate and spin

so if the lid switch doesn't stop the water i would be checking that lid switch for continuity first

I have checked the lid switch and it is ok. Is there any way that I can check the voltage at the controler to see if I am getting power there?

The reason why we are so concerned is a lot of folk plop down good money for a timer and that ain't the problem. It very well could be the timer but it probably ain't . Did you check to see if the timer was plugged in good. The other day I went on a call and the timer connection had vibrated out. I pushed it back in and it worked fine.

I unplugged it and plugged it back in. I will check anything that you think I can check to keep from buying the wrong part.

when you unplugged it did you take a good look at the pins to see if maybe some corrosion set in? I live very near the gulf and we have a lot of problems with salty air and humidity.

the pins look great. Is there no sure way for me to check the timer to tell if it is good or bad.

On the machine somewhere is a schematic of the timer functions but it is all Greek to me. Maybe one of these High tech genius's can splain it better than me.

check for voltage on your motor. Off the top of my head I would say check between the white and red wire.

If you have voltage to the motor and the motor does not run then replace the motor.

the lid switch has 3 wires. one of them is the green ground wire. Usually the middle wire.
That leaves 2 wires. Jump them two wires at the male plug going into the harness and see if that sucker will run!

The problem was in the centrifugal switch. While I had the washer turned on, I moved the wires and it started. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you found the trouble. Sometimes its the connection in the plug on the end of the wire harness too and not in the switch itself.
