I have a maytag performa dryer.  When I turn it on I hear a clicking sound but it does not come on or spin to dry.  My husband took it apart and I can still hear the clicking sound and the motor does not smell like it is burning or anything but it is not coming all the way on.

Replace the thermal fuse located on the right side of the heater. This is just under the main top and quite easy to replace. The kit is shown below. The reason it blew is due to a blocked exhaust. Be sure you do NOT have foil duct on this dryer as noted in the owners manual. You'll find the Performa dryer manual in this forum.
