Hello all! First time here...
Our Kenmore Series 90 washer has been making a noise for maybe a a couple weeks or so and has now reached an uh-oh stage. Bought a Whirlpool DIY manual to find little information regarding my findings.
So here goes - the agitator skips or doesn't rotate erratically during the spin cycle and presumably - the noise. Since I don't have the technology or the intellect to film and attach a file, the sound will have to be spelled out; so think old comic book. It's kind of a rouw-rouw-rouw sound. Each skip will make the sound. I've pretty much had the entire drive sub-system laid out on the floor and to my mind, nothing obvious stands out. I have found the that I can hold the agitator shaft (agitator removed) while the basket is spinning - if that means anything. My wife also mentioned that sometimes the spin sycle won't effectively remove all the water as it once had. If there is some other detail I've left out except the sound, please don't hesitate to ask. (That blue spark that occurred once when I jumped the lid switch connector has gone away so I'm no longer startled by it.) The long and short of it is that I don't know where to start. If need be, I'll just buy a new tranny and hope for the best - but I'm somehow not convinced the problem is that big.
Any help you folks can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
