This washer is causing me indigestion ! I have tried just about everything to get this problem fixed and nothing seems to work. The motor just does not have enough torque to start the rotation in a normal cycle. I took the motor off and checked both of them both a newer and an older one both for any bind of rotation, checked the 2 speed switch for proper operation and cleaned the contact points, dismantled the center shaft bearing setup which used new bearings ,replaced the capacitor, and any other areas I could think of to no avail. The only area I have not investigated is possibly binding of the brake but the wash basket does not seem to have much drag when turned by hand. The latest effort resulted in some sparks coming out the side of the motor windings. It did not cause the motor or capacitor to melt or catch fire but I am reluctant to try it again. Anyone have any other ideas to try ?
