cracked inlet valve
« on: February 18, 2021, 03:38:12 PM »

I replaced a cracked inlet valve WP8578341 on a top load whirlpool washer WTW5521SQ0 at the end of December. I got a call from that customer this week saying the new valve has cracked too. The washer is in the basement, we are in Minnesota and it has been below zero the last couple weeks so I believe the valves are freezing. The basement does not feel cold enough for that to happen. Does anyone know what might be happening and how we can prevent this from happening again or if there is a bulletin from Whirlpool about defective valves? Thanks, Annie

These valves usually only crack from frozen water. If it continues one possible solution is to hang a light bulb near the water valve when the cycle is complete
