While Jenn-air model JES9800cas02 was preheating, it made very loud shorting sound for about 5 sec and looked like someone was welding inside the oven. The heating element melted through in one area. Just replaced today and is not heating.
Wires at element were not getting power, and element wires coming out of control panel are not getting power.
Is there something that would stop control panel from sending power to lower heating element? During preheat, stove uses top element and that is working fine. Where lower element burned through was right below temp probe. Could a bad temp probe cause control panel not to send power? I ohmed probe at 1095. Or is there a thermal switch that could have tripped when element burnt? I just want to be sure I cover all my bases before ordering control panel I am not knowledgeable in appliance repair. Thank you everyone in advance!
