Amana washer model LW8203W2A with s/n 9503065167
« on: December 06, 2020, 09:12:42 AM »

I was just given the above model AMANA washer for repair. One of the first things I found was the small hose between the mixing valve and the top of the tub  had a hole in it due to the mixing valve being loose from its mounting plate. This hose with p/n 38155 is apparently not available. Can anyone help me with a source  for this hose ? Urgent. Help.

If that's an old Raytheon Amana, the equivalent Speed Queen part might fit.  Does this same part # look like it: https://www.pwslaundry.com/i-787201-speed-queen-38155-washer-hose-mixing-valve-to-tub-cover.html

Can't edit my post above, but in the repair video below you'll see that this old Amana is the ancestor of today's Speed Queen.  Drain pump is mounted with bolts instead of spring clips, suspension springs are vertical rather than angled, but the pedigree is evident.  Possible the tub hose linked above is a direct fit.

Yes the washer in question does look like the old version and the Speed Queen part should fit.

A new hose and a new belt were installed and the unit put back together. A problem with the lid switch resulted in a temporary bypass to it and now things are working OK. These old units are hard tp  kill  !!!

Nice!  A neighbor has a Maytag-labeled version of this washer, but with angled suspension springs.  SAV model # prefix.  I put a belt on it for the couple, surprised the tub seal hasn't leaked given that model's reputation.  From the interior it looked pretty much like a Speed Queen...same motor mounting, belt & tensioner, water pump (bolted on), etc.  Like new condition despite the age, it's held up well and the new belt cured their noise complaint.  If I do that job again, I'm talking them into a new drain pump and belt tensioner while I'm in there.
