Compressor Short Cycles - Maytag MSF25D2EAW00
« on: September 24, 2020, 07:31:49 AM »

Need a little help here with this Side by Side Maytag Refrigerator #MSF25D2EAW00 just replaced the Compressor with a New one - Replaced the Drier filter. Blew through the Filter with Nitrogen on the Filter High Side and Opened up the Service Valve to see if Nitrogen was flowing through - then repeated the process from the Service Valve and opened up the High Side Valve from the Drier Side - everything blew through nicely. Pressurized the system with 250lbs. of Nitrogen and it stayed there for at least an hour - no leak. Pulled a Vacuum for 1/2 hour then Weighed in 5 oz. of R134A. Now the compressor is short cycling only running for about 1 minute then shutting down. Put an amp meter on it and it's pulling 5.6 - 5.8 amps??? Any thoughts? Compressor will try to kick back on but only run for 1 minute?? Thermostat up all the way??

250psi of nitrogen is a lot. Whirlpool actually doesn't recommended using nitrogen for any sealed system repair or test. The most I would do would be 120 psi. You may have a failed compressor.

That's a lot of current, as if start winding isn't dropping out.  What's the low side static pressure?
