Kenmore washer
«

I have a kenmore laundry center (stacked). During the wash cycle the tub would not spin. The belt burned up. I replaced the belt and now the machine agitates, pumps out water but wont spin. The motor is turning but wont turn the tub. It seems I can turn the tub by hand. The unit is about 20 years old. Help! Thanks, Bill

Actually today I was able to get it to spin by giving it some assist (I had been turning it the wrong way) sounds like something is clunking in there somewhere

What is the model number of your stack washer? Check to see if a piece of clothing is lodged between the wash basket and outer tub. It only takes one little sock to cause it not to spin.

If you can fit all four fingers easily under the agitator your basket dropped due to a broken trunnion or worse. Number 15 & 16 are your suspect if the latter is the case.

Thanks...I'll check that. Now the frustration is I bought a new one and the old one is working!! Once in a while I have to assist it to get it spinning but no more clunking?

Your bearing on the transmission is probably shot. It’s a 1 way bearing that needs replacing - check for rust or water spots under the transmission. If it grinds your due for a new bearing - Big Job 🤐
