Oven buzzing, please help!
« on: April 26, 2020, 11:03:31 AM »

Ok, I have a GE range that Iíve had since new (like 20years ago!!).  Anyways, past few months (yes months). The timer/control module has been acting crazy.  BUZZING CLICKING all completely random as if it has mind of its own.  All aspects of the stove/oven work fine.  Just donít have access to clock/timer (but donít use it anyways!).

GE Doesnít carry part anymore, and canít help me.  Is there any way I can get the buzzing to stop?  Can I bypass the clock?  Do I need to replace a relay?  Iíve had the control panel out, but could not see any obvious failed or burnt components.

Iím desperate here, as this noise is getting a bit ridiculous.

Iíll try to attach video

Here are some pics

Just imagine a lot of random clicking and buzzing and the clock digits going all goofy.

I could not find any tech info on this unit.

You could unplug the unit and then remove the buzzer from the board.

That at least will get rid of the racket.

I actually removed the piezo buzzer already.  It is something else that is causing the buzzing/clicking.  I suspect a relay.  Is there any way I can bypass the timer/clock, or do all the oven controls go through there?

From what I see in your control panel picture you have a selector switch on the left (for bake/broil etc.) and a thermostat on the right (for temp setting).  I don't see why you can not remove the power to the clock unit all together and still be able to use the oven.  Disconnect power to the clock by hopefully pulling off a wire and see if it helps.  Don't cut wires because you may have to reinstall them if it doesn't help.  good luck!
