Speed Queen washer model AWN412SP111TW01 and s/n 1207025559
« on: August 15, 2019, 10:25:04 PM »

I was given this washer by a friend who told me it worked great but on occasion it would overflow in the rinse portion of the cycle. I took the cover off the console and can see no problem with the load sensor switch which I thought might be the problem area. This washer looks like a new one and I am seeking info from other repair folks who might have seen this problem on this model washer. Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.

Years ago, I found that the Speed Queen tub drain could be completely blocked by a quarter in the tub.  If a quarter had gotten into the tub it would roll around and usually not cause any problem but every once in a while it would end up in the depression around the drain so that when the drain/spin started no water would pump out.  The spin gradually built up enough speed that centrifugal force sent the water over the top!  You might check for that.

There was no problem with the tub drain/ It would overflow while filling. I will recheck this when I install the new mixing valve.

I found a Maytag mixing valve in my spare parts box that fit OK. Minor rework to the mtg holes . Works very well and no leaks. Another unit saved from the scrap heap. These Speed Queen units are easy to fix and last a long time. This one should be OK for many more years.
