Kenmore 106.51133210 s/s
« on: July 29, 2019, 11:29:23 PM »

Hello to all.    denman over at PartsDr thought that dab147315 might be able to help on this.

This side by side Kenmore works fine but will not shut down.  Unit passes all dignostic sequence test of thermistors, fans, compressor, and defrost cycle. Bi-metal and heater working OK.

Motherboard was swapped out with a used one I got from a reputable guy on Ebay.  The symptoms stayed the same.

If I let it run it goes down to -10F,  I have the freezer temp set at 4 degrees F.

A question also. How does the door control panel communicate the temp that you set with the buttons to the main board down below.? ( Like the freezer setting... maybe 0, or +3, or -2 etc.)

Does the main board compare that setting with the signal coming from the freezer thermistor?? And does it then start or stop the compressor??

I don't have the proper info to check this or a spec sheet diagnostic sequence to help. Does anyone have access to a test sheet for this model Kenmore?

I can start and stop the compressor from the keys in the freezer door control panel.

Thanks so much for your patience, I could really use some help on this.

The whirlpool job aid was full of useful info.  almost identical to the Kenmore. Thanks.

I had bought a brand new thermistor and I tested it and the one in my freezer at the same time at 0 deg.F.   Both read around 21K.  I left the original alone.   Checked the fridge one also and it reads around 4.6K  at approx. 55 degreesF.   They both seem ok.   These readings were done at the plug that goes into the MB.

I wonder if it could be the MB that's  bad?    I don't know what else to check!!
