Kenmore Washer Model 110.29822800

Customer says this washer will start agitating while filling with washer.  When I looked at it, all that I could find wrong was that the indicator didn't move with the dial when it was pushed in and turned.  You can turn the dial and sometimes get the indicator to turn.  Other times it won't.  You can also move the indicator by hand to select the cycle or position desired.  I've heard some people say the load sensor is bad causing the machine to agitate while fillling.  Wouldn't the indicator issue be a timer related problem?  I think there could be two problems on this machine.  Any ideas?  Thanks, Joey.
