Maybe I am missing something, but I am wondering how you change your status from a VIP member to a technician?

Btw is there more forums if you are at the level Technician  than VIP ? I started out in the 80,s when you could rebuild GE washer clam shell timers , repair the the wonderful Whirlpool  Flex tray ( built in defrost timer ) Icemaker and saw the intro of the Whirlpool design 2000 (direct drive washer ) before the neutral drain was added . Got out in 2008 to be a refrigeration / HVAC specialist at a Supply house . Now back in business in one week .
BTW things have changed a little.....  :) to say the least.

rkious1. I thought someone else like AJ would respond to your question, but since no one did, I will answer as best I can.  The only reason I wanted a technician status was to access the last forum on the page.  This is one where you learn all the secret technician handshakes, and who really has the largest flat head screwdriver in there toolbox.  The only one that counts is the long flat head that you carry through the door on every service call, not the one in the truck.  My daily carry flat head is 14 inches, from top of handle to flat tip.  Look forward to seeing you on the other side.  Bearcat

In this business it pays to help each other out . We all know that they make "fixes" that unless you know about it or can find out you are spinning your wheels on trying to complete the repair ( at least a good repair) . Some stuff like belts, door latches ect just takes standard trouble shooting to take care of . Then you have the fact that in some area,s different manufacturers and even different models are used and I might see just one and another guy might know all the ends and outs because he works on several a week.

I agree with you.  In this business,  knowledge is power.  I try to learn all the time.   I read service manuals when I have the time.  But, the information you can find on this site, is worth it''s weight in gold.   Was reading about someone having trouble with this dishwasher,  and one member suggested something they had heard about, and since I had actually seen it,  I chimed in, to let him know he was on the right track.  Hope you will contribute things you see, that we might not.
