I have a 18 year old Rheem criterion gas furnace blower motor issue...
The main burner fires up just fine but some times when the
blower kicks in it will take several tries to get going, it's very interment, some times it comes on just like normal,
runs for a while then cuts back out again. All while this is
happening the main burner stays lit and running. Also the blower sounds fine, the same as it always has.
I have Googled and Utubed my furnaces symptoms and found virtually nothing on a Rheem criterion gas furnace with a pilot light ignition system. I did find a lot about "flame sensor" issues but I can not find a flame sensor on my unit. I did clean up the thermocouple with some steel wool, but it had not made any difference. As I said the burner and ignition cycle seem just fine.
Would the motor capacitor cause these issues?
I just don't understand why it is so intermittent if the cap is bad, why would it only work sometimes?
I know in a washing machine the motor WILL NOT run at all if the cap is bad!
Thank you for any help or opinions offered
stay warm and thank you for your time
