Maytag top load Washer is still full of water at end of cycle

Older Maytag top load washer (sometimes) still has full tub of water at very end of cycle. However, the pump works fine cause it pumps the water out the first half of every cycle.
Model LAT9206BAE

When you get to the point the pump and motor quits in the cycle immediately move the timer to the wash pumpout point and see if the water can be pumped out on the wash mode. If it works in wash mode at the spin portion then you have a bad timer. If it does not spin then the motor is getting hot and failing. Feel the motor. If it is hot as hell then it probably has bad bearings. Run the motor with the pump belt off to see if the pump is dragging down the motor. On these here particular pumps you don't have too many failures but they do get stiff over time.

Okay, I'll try those things and let you know what the result is.
Thanks!

JW,
Just to clairify. Do you mean, when the washer gets to the point -at the very end of the wash cycle when the clothes are ready to be removed - the pump and motor quit - then move the dial?
