Amana washer Model NTW4750YQ1
« on: July 02, 2017, 10:09:54 AM »

I am about to take possession of a washer of the above model number that has a water leak that resulted in the water running into the motor. I think the motor may be OK but need to know if the repair of a seal leak on this machine is a very difficult job requiring special tools. Also is the seal an expensive item ?. I know the motor is expensive but the price to me for the washer is very low ($15) so I am considering taking a shot at it. Also are there some other parts under the tub that would likely require replacement if I take it apart. I am well acquainted with dryers but dont like to work on washers much especially if they require special tools, etc.

I picked up this washer today and I cannot find the data plate anywhere on the outside of the machine. Can someone help me or direct me to the proper location for this info on the machine. ?

This is a Whirlpool built VMW washer. Part # for the seal is W10324647. No special tools required. You will have to pull the transmission to replace the seal.

I cannot get this unit to run  except to start to rotate for a few seconds. The diagnostics on this type of machine are crazy. I am going to offer it for free to anyone who can use it for parts. Thanks for the p/n anyhow.

I have that washer bought years ago, used for 1 month then gave up on it due to finding the powdered soap on top of the clothes when it had completed, I didn’t know I was supposed to use HE soap, but soap is soap, we are cleaning clothes here not going to the moon.  I bought another make machine and put the Amanda aside, now I hooked it up as a second washer but trying to wash in it brings back the frustration of years ago.  The jeans were still dirty when it completed, I am going to try a few more times before I junk a never used machine.
