Amana NFW7200TW Error Code "nd"
« on: May 25, 2017, 01:04:41 PM »

I have an Amana Washer, model # nfw7200tw that is giving me the "nd" error code. It works for about 3/4 of the wash cycle (inclusive of pumping out water) but then the "nd" error code happens toward the end of the cycle. I took apart the pump and confirmed that there are no obstructions. I also took off the boot that attaches to the pump and it also was clear of obstruction. I am able to easily blow through the drain tube. I tested to validate that the pump has continuity and that the wire leading to the pump is providing 120v when the pump tries to turn on. Any thoughts on what to try next?

Replace the pump

Thank you for the response.  Based on my tests of the pump, wouldn't it seem that the pump is fine?

In my further investigation I took off and tested the water pressure sensor.  Using a bolt meter set on ohms I show continuity when touching pins 1+3 but not 1+2 or 2+3.  When I blow into the sensor I think (?) it should flip the switch inside and reverse hat test.  I do hear a switch when I blow into it but the continuity doesn't change.

Would this lead you to believe the pressure switch is bad?

I may have misunderstood your first post. I thought it never drained.
Put it in test mode and fill it up the run the drain pump.
The service manual should be on the inside panel.

If it doesn't drain consistently, change the pump.

I put it in service mode while it had water in it  and was able to start and stop the Pump.  I tried it again later when the water level was lower (or maybe empty) and I was not able to make the Pump run.  Does there need to be water for the pump to run?

In service mode the pump should run when you tell it to. Regardless of water level. I would either suspect a poor connection or a bad pump

Latest discovery... upon closer examination of the control board, I see marks that appear to be burns and have attached pictures.  Do these look like burns to you and would you expect that this could be the true source of my issues?

I wound up replacing the pump and the pressure sensor.  Neither fixed the issue.  I replaced the control board and it was immediately fixed.  Trick these days is that the control board is no longer manufactured so not all distributors carry it.  I found one for a little over a hundred bucks.

YouTube is your friend.  Search the model and symptom.  Lots of good videos on how to take things apart.  Let me know if you have questions.

thanks for replying!
i realized i could test the voltage at the wire to the pump and indeed it seems to be control board. but yea you are right, that part seems to be hard to find now.
