LG directdrive front load washer leak
« on: September 04, 2016, 08:45:53 PM »

This is my first post Im new. I have a lg direct drive washing machine. I was listening to the washer draining longer than normal. Walked in there and there was water everywhere. I noticed there was lots of suds in the drum still but water and suds on the wall behind it. Also there a white looking drain hole that was wet and had some suds on it. Ive never seen water or suds come out of here before. Any ideas? Also the soap tray usually shows liquid still in there after the load is finished. This just started last week. And to top it off it doesnt matter if its a small load or large every now and again there is water on the floor

It's leaking from the vent due to oversudsing. Stop using so much soap.

Make sure you didn't actually use non- HE detergent. Front load washers need HE detergent with the little HE symbol. Run a few empty loads to clear the suds and check your detergent.

Yes only He detergent is being used, and we dont use that much.  But is the leaking from the back only due to the soap issue?

2tablespoons of standard HE
1tablespoon for x2 concentrate
1teaspoon x3 concentrate
1/2 teaspoon x4
If you pretreat stains use even less soap.
Don't use the measurements on the soap cap, don't use the measurements on the machine.

Yeah, leaking from the vent which is caused by too much detergent.  If you pull the hose off tub, it runs from tub to rear panel, you will see a valve that should ride up and down.  Lots of times it gets stuck from the suds so water flies out during the cycle.  You can usually just clean the stem of valve but sometimes you have to replace it.  It is called a mushroom valve if you need to replace it.
