Samsung NE58F9500SS range control panel not working
« on: June 16, 2016, 10:23:21 AM »

Started self-clean cycle
Partway through the cycle, the control panel went dark
Self-clean cycle appears to have completed, but door remains locked
Cooktop works normally, so the range has power

My first thought is that the display assembly (part AP5800743) is dead, but I'm looking for troubleshooting tips.

Thanks!

check the voltage going in to the pcb. if no power look for a broken wire. I have had a few of them with wires issues.

There was no voltage to either the main pcb or sub pcb (display).  No evidence of broken wires or overheated circuitry.
With the help of the posted service manual, I was able to determine that the thermal fuse was blown. $4 bucks later the range is as good as new.  Going to wait for a cool day to try the self clean cycle again  :)

Many thanks to @VOGUSLAVKY and @dab147315!

Fun fact, self clean is EXTREMELY hard on a unit and I recommend against it. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.  O0 O0

Update:

Tried the self cleaning cycle again.  Unfortunately the thermal fuse blew again.  I bought 2 earlier, so it was an quick repair.

My wife is unimpressed with the idea of not using the self clean feature.  What's a good next troubleshooting step?

Thanks!

Sounds like the cooling fan (located in the back, below the console) may not be running during clean.

Verify that that the range has all the required clearances per the installation manual

It's a slide-in range, meant to be installed flush. So, if it fits, it's good.

stop using self clean.
Fill an oven safe dish with water
Put the oven at 350
put the dish in the middle of the oven
set timer for 3hrs
After three hours lower heat to 200
set timer for 2hrs
After two hours wipe oven out.

@liberty99 where did you order the thermal fuse? I am having the same issues. Any install instructions online?
