Maytag washer cycle stops
« on: May 04, 2016, 06:43:11 PM »

I have a Maytag LAW9406AAE that will fill up, drain, and just stops. A tech I asked thinks it's the timer, but I've had this issue with another washer and it turned out the lid switch went bad, keeping the lid lock from engaging and continuing the cycle. Looking for a second opinion. Thanks!

According to the wiring diagram for that washer, it has a water saver feature.  I think you should check the continuity and operation of that before trying to replace any parts.  Wiring diagram is available on the parts lookup.  Good luck!

I haven't had any experience with the water saver feature. Are there any observable symptoms I should look for? How is the water saver feature normally supposed to operate? Should I just be checking the water saver switch for continuity or are there other areas I should be checking at well?

Thanks for your help!

There is a diverter valve  in the drain line that will send the water back to the tub.  I think yours may be stuck in the drain position and when the recirculation is supposed to start it just sends it out the drain, and since the tub is then empty it cannot agitate because the pressure switch has no power going to the motor?  By the way, parts for that system do not seem to be available any longer!
