Cabrio WTW5500XW0
« on: March 29, 2016, 01:57:17 PM »

Hello everyone, I have read and read these forums and still cannot find my problem.
I have tried to get it into diagnostic mode, but all the lights under the control knob blinked.  It seemed to be blink Blink... blink blink...etc.

Let me back up, last year I replaced the pump motor and all was well.  A few weeks ago it would get to the last spin cycle and would stop and blink.  I would use the rinse & spin to finish and all was well.

I read it could be the amount of detergent so I decreased that and it seemed to work fine all day Sunday.  Worked fine yesterday and today I tried a load and it did a weird humm,  I unplugged it and tried again.  It would sound like it tried to spin and then lid lock LED would blink.

I took off the pump to check for a blockage and there was nothing.

Now that I have done that, the lid lock keeps locking and unlocking in a series of 4.  I have sprayed water on it to clean it incase something was making it sticky.

So now I am stuck with the lid lock trying to lock and won't do anything. I am not sure what to try now.  The lid lock WAS working just fine, but now it isn't so I might have two problems?

OK, seems like I have read that goes out a lot.  I ordered one and it will be here Friday.
The lid lock, I may have figured out what it is doing.  When I tipped the washer on its face, I had laundry soap in the dispenser.   I found it draining out when I tipped it back up.  I wonder if the liquid shorted the lid lock switch?  I am going to try it again and see if it is still doing it today, but to change that part I have to take thr tub out, correct?

I just went to see what it does today.  I turned it on and it acted like it was going to start.  Spun and stopped and thr lid lock clicked 4 times, paused, clicked again and was unlocked.

Known for broken wires.May want to check under washer were there are wire ties.Check out capacitor for proper capacitance
And ohm out motor and follow tech.sheet.Look at this service pointer.  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-i5KqMA2RZwOWR4V1dxU3YwVXc/view?usp=sharing

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. These washers have no GUARANTEED failed part. I have seen one part give symptoms of another. I have had an equal amount of pcbs, wres, caps, motors, lid locks you name it bad. You will have to dig deep if you dont wanna end up paying more for parts than a new VMW costs

Enter the diagnostic mode and check the speed sensor that way, you can ohm out the motor at the board and I think it should be four ohms each side, also make sure the pump is plugged in.

I got the new actuator today and just put it in, that may have fixed it!   I did the wash with affresh mode, it ran all the way through.  I now have a load washing and dang if it isn't going!!
I think I got the part for about $40, and it took longer to unhook the water lines than it did to put the part in!  Thank you to all those who replied, I am praying this is the fix, otherwise I am off to the laundromat with work laundry. (Which I was not looking forward to).

You have to calibrate the washer as well

:'(   not sure how to calibrate it?

It has been running well since yesterday and it just stopped mid-load again.  I took some stuff out (washing sheets) and have it going again.  I literally did 6 or 7 loads just fine, and then it stopped.  Grrr.

I have been busy and haven't had time to calibrate, but will try it today if I can get to it.  It isn't working again.  Tries to go, then does the loud hummm.  I had done at least 12 loads!  Ugh!  This thing is driving me crazy.

I think I am in the calibration mode.  The link above had a different sequence to enter the diagnostic mode so I used the sequence that works for mine.  I followed instructions and all LED's came on, so I went ahead and stared calI rating mode.  It did a few things and now the LID LOCK LED is flashing.
I have to go get my meter from a friend to test the other thing
