Whirlpool Duet Dryer Model #GEW9250SUO Front control no lights
« on: January 18, 2016, 07:16:22 AM »

I had the control lock button on the control lit it would not come out oif lock mode.
I held the button for a long time ( 2min). After looking up a solution on the internet. I checked for supply pwr from the cord to the control board. It was good.Motor circuit test was good.Ordered a new Cntrl brd.
Install the cntrl  board everything lit up ran a drying cycle all was well. Ran one complete cycle front panel went dead no lights at all. Repeated supply pwr checks again all ok bought cntrl bd  locally installed new cntrl bd all lights on, ran panel diagnostic test (which i should have done with first cntrl bd).
All DIAGNOSTIC TEST PASSED ran three (3) complete drying cycles. have no lights on front panel.
Did a continuity check on the user interface boards have a high 23.6Mohm resistance on the Temp, wrinkle shield, auto dry, more time, less time button ribbon pin out instead of a open.
$230.00 cnrtl board now $177.00 user interface panels.
hope this solves the problem $400 to fix a 750.00 machine.WTF

I am faced with a similar issue. The control board died about a year ago. We replaced it, all was fine. Two days ago, it started acting up again. The on button Turned the lights on, bu the cycle would not start.
We have had extreme heat and humidity for 2 full months (more than normal summer). The inside of Th dryer was wet, it was empty and the door was shut. So I opened the door, put a fan in front of it to dry it out, then it ran fine. The next day, we have lights at all.  It is a 2005 whirlpool duet stackable.
The big debate now is, do I replace the control panel again or just go get a new dryer???
