Maytag Washer wont drain or spin
« on: August 17, 2015, 09:37:39 PM »

I have a Maytag Centennial washer
Model Number: MVWC300VW0

I was doing laundry today and it was working fine and on this last load it worked up to the rinse cycle, filled up with water, but would not drain the water or spin. The dial did not move past rinse cycle onto spin either. Anyone have any ideas? Ive tried resetting it by opening and closing the door and turning it on and off.

If your washer agitates, but doesn't drain even if you advance the timer to the drain cycle, then replace the pump. Since it is more likely to malfunction than your timer and will cost 5 times less, you should go this route. If the new pump doesn't do the trick, replace the timer.

A bad lid switch is a much more likely cause. DON'T replace the pump. Do you hear the switch click when you lower the lid?

This is why I said "if your washer agitates"... if the washer agitates, replace the pump. If that doesn't work, replace the timer. I believe the problem is that your washer stops working right after the wash cycle. Correct? Then the lid switch is fine.

The lid does click when I open and close it so thats why I didnt think that was the problem. It was agitating when it was washing during the cycle but since it filled up during rinse it wont agitate anymore. I can get it to fill more during the rinse cycle but wont do anything once it comes to the spin.

If the washer will NOT agitate, even if you turn the timer to the wash cycle, replace your lid switch.
