Whirlpool WFW9470
« on: March 05, 2015, 11:47:47 AM »

I have had this machine about 4 years.  Noticed a few days ago it sounded different during the spin.  Today I found a small amount of water on the floor under the washer.  I also noticed that I no longer hear the liquid sloshing sound when I turn the drum by hand.  I was told when I bought it that the liquid helped balance the drum.

I assume that somehow this liquid has drained from where it was but I have no idea where or if I can replace the part?

Can anyone help?

The boot appears to be ok.  Ive removed the front panel also and could not see any leaks.

Does someone know if this washer has some type of liquid to help with the balance when the drum spins?

It has no liquid to help with balance. It uses shock absorbers, springs and cement counter weights for that. Some whirlpool top loader use a liquid ring around the tub. These are the parts that make up your washer. https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%20W10326930.pdf
Found this service bulletin. See if your serial number matches.

The water was at the bottom front.  This thing sounds like a bearing grinding now.  Very loud on spin.

I have disassembled this washer and found that the bearings are fried.  Can someone recommend a place to get both bearings and seal.
