Gas furnace combustion booster motor locks up
« on: December 29, 2014, 10:17:28 AM »

An EVCON gas downflow furnace has a booster or combustion motor that periodically locks up. It requires a little force to free it up and then the furnace will progress fine through its start up. There is nothing mechanically apparent as to the cause. Is it getting magnetically locked up? Does anyone know the cause?

I appreciate the feedback. The new motor that it sounds like I need will be the 3rd in 10 years. I would like to understand what exactly happens when a little booster motor develops a flat spot. Any info or links to learning about these motors would be a big help.
