Jenn Aire JIC4430XB Induction Cooktop
« on: December 23, 2013, 01:24:18 PM »

I have a brand new (10 days old)JennAire induction cooktop model JIC4430XB. I broke the corner of the glass top. I am looking into replacing the glass. How complicated is it to replace the glass? is it as easy as removing the six torx screws holding the glass to the frame or is there something more involved? Is the user interface attached to the underside of the glass? Is there anything else stuck to the bottom of the glass on this model. I tried to get some info from a tech sheet on this model but it is not entirely clear. Is a service manual available? I have changed several cooktops in the past and I am comfortable with the basic appliance wiring and electrical safety issues. Thanks for the help.

OK, so I did a bunch of research and made several phone calls.  All of the research pointed to the PART NUMBER: W10396546.  Now this is the BLACK glass top not the Stainless Steel one.  So this is for the JIC4430XB (B-black).  Jumping ahead a little I also check with a local parts place and confirmed the part number!

Now for the install.  I found the repair manual which only talked about 6 torx screws holding the glass on and that's it.  What it wasn't clear about is if there were any sensors, etc. attached to the bottom of the glass or stuff like that.  So I managed to get access to a repair shop and one of their service folks.  He confirmed that there are NO HIDDEN issues (sensors, etc).  That it is really just the 6 screws (2 on each side and 2 in the front) and then the back lifts off.  He said it was/is really that easy.

Lastly, what I found is Sears has the cheapest price at $292 free shipping!!!
