Whirlpool direct drive washer.  Coupler is not worn out.  I need help on removing transmission, clutch and brake to find what is worn.

Can you describe the noise?

Remove the agitator like in this video.

**Disconnect the power to the washer before you start any repairs**

Then take the washer apart like your going to replace the motor coupler.
Like we show you in this video.

Once you have it to that point lay the washer on it's back.
Next locate and remove the three bolts that hold the tranny in place.
Remove the bolts and the tranny will slide out of the washer. You will be able to see the clutch on top of the tranny and the brake still in the washer were you pulled the tranny out.

Is the noise coming from the bottom of the washer?
Does the washer work ok other then the noise?

Noise is from bottom of the washer.  Yes, the washer works fine otherwise.

Can you describe the noise?

Is it a clicking noise, grinding, rubbing sound, etc...??

Does it make this noise all the time or just during the agitate, spin or drain cycle?

If the washer is working ok I would take a look inside the water pump to see if something got trapped inside it.

I pulled the brake shoes.  They are very slick and hard.  Have ordered a new set from AppliancePartsPros.com, Inc.
Sure appreciate all your help, AJ
