GE WPX214A0wW unaligned
« on: May 07, 2014, 07:25:48 PM »

My GE front loader washer machine seems to have fallen off track. Now when it runs, there sounds like friction/resistance almost like a rubbing noise. When opened up, I can see that the rubber housing is not fully adjoined around the metal washing cylinder. Is it common for these two to become separated?

Is there an additional part that keeps the metal cylinder aligned or is it up to the rubber to keep it rotating smoothly?

Attached is a picture of the top of cylinder separated from rubber housing.

sounds like something between basket and tub or the spider/bearing is shot. Can you wiggle the basket up and down by hand? if so it is spider or bearing
