When I plug the washer n it blows the gfi immediately.

Check the cord and through the noise filter, no short there,  when I unplug the whit wire from the filter it will not blow the breaker.  So it is internal...

WhT can this be and how do I diagnosis it.   Thanks a ton.

Washers are not made to plug into a GFI.  Plug it into a normal 120vac receptacle & see what it does.

There was a problem with those washers leaking water onto the heating element. Maytag's solution was to send you a GFI that plugged into your outlet so you could plug your washer into that.No mention of fixing the leak. You will have to take the front panel off to check but the problem will be obvious if it has leaked. I didn't use the GFI on mine and when my second board burned up I investigated and sure enough the wires were fried at the element.
