anyone getting bad timers? i have replace 2 of these in a row in the same washer. the orig. one was bad. replace it with new fsp wp8557301 and the washer would run but the timer would not advance. replaced it again and now its agitating when its suppose to fill. it is filling but agitating at the same time. is there any generic timers i could try? any other input or suggestions?

Anyone else have any insight on what could possibly be the problem here. I checked all the wiring for brakes are bad connections but everything looks good.

Closely examine the wiring where it enters the timer connector. Separate the wires as it could be a couple wires shorting in that area.

I dislike timers. They seem like a black magic to me. Any way to train on them without having extensive service calls on them? I rarely see them and when I do, I struggle!

A mechanical timer is nothing but a bunch of switches operated by cams on a hub driven by the timer motor. This may be of help to you in understanding and troubleshooting them.
