WHIRLPOOL GI5svaxvL01 Water/Ice Maker not dispensing
« on: December 26, 2013, 11:01:26 AM »

The ice/water lights work, but all of a sudden they are not dispensing anything. There is ice in the bin, which I emptied & it started over producing ice & I took out the water filter to see if that was the issue. Nothing's worked so far.  (It quit after the kids went back and forth from ice to water to ice very quickly, so we blamed them at first. But if there was a child lock function (like with car windows & car locks), it should have re-set by now, right?) Any ideas?

Is the light above the lockout button on? Press and hold the button until the light goes out.  Otherwise, it's a problem with a switch or the control.  I've attached the tech sheet, service test 163 should tell you if the dispenser switch is working.

Thanks, but service test 163 is "off". What do I do now?

If it doesn't show "on" when you push the lever, it's probably the switch. Confirm the switch with an ohmmeter.  Can you hear the switch click when you push the lever? I only see it available as the entire chute assembly, 13005704W.  If you want to save some money, just replace the switch, 28QBP0495 if it has 3/16" terminals, 28QBP0496 if it has 1/4" terminals.
