How does this thing come out?
« on: November 08, 2013, 05:25:03 AM »

Kenmore model #10644423601.
This part is called the filter housing assembly. Part number W10121140. The complaint is that when the customer replaces the water filter, water will gush out of the thing till the customer jams in the new one causing one big mess. I removed the 2 screws at the bottom of the filter mounting and it does loosen it up but it will not fit through the holes. It won't go out the rear because the compressor is in the way. There is a bottom pan underneath so I was wondering, do I have to lay this refrigerator on it's side to remove the bottom pan? (I don't even know if the pan is removable at the bottom.)

Remove all the screws in the front and remove the pan its a pain in the butt but it comes out from the rear you have to remove the water lines from it filter head and twist and yank twist some more and its out
