Well, that's interesting because that reset procedure is for GE hydrowave models, not your Whirlpool VMW model. Tilt the washer back and look up inside front cabinet to retrieve the manual. It will tell you how to get into service mode to run various tests and check for error codes. Most likely a failed shift actuator but check for error codes first. Also, while washer is tilted back, remove the belt guard and check for a loose nut on the center pulley.
