MAYTAG WASHER MODEL MVWC450XW
« on: April 22, 2013, 11:57:46 PM »

I AM WORKING ON A MAYTAG TOP LOAD WASHER MVWC450XW THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I ENTER THE CALIBRATION  THE MOTOR WILL HUM AND THEN THE LID LED COMES ON FLASHING. WELL I CHECKED EVERYTHING ON IT THE LID SWITCH THE SHIFT ACTUATOR THE SLUTCH AND THE CONTROL BOARD HAS POWER. I CHECKED THE MOTOR AND AND NOTED THE WINDINGS FROM PIN 3 TO 9 WAS OVER THE 6 OHMS ANYWAY I TOOK THE MOTOR 20 MILES INTO THE SHOP AND I INSTALLED THE MOTOR ON A SIMILAR WASHER AND IT WORKED FINE NOW TOMORROW I AM GOING OUT THE CUSTOMERS HOME 20 MILES AWAY AND I AM GOING TO CHECK THE WIRES FROM THE CAPACITOR TO THE MOTOR. BY THE WAY I DID SWITCH OPUT THE CAPACITOR WITH ONE THAT WAS WORKING FINE SO GUYS AND GALS MANANA I WILL REPORT MY FINDINGS. I AM SURE THE WIRES FROM THE CAPACITOR TO THE MOTOR WILL BE THE CULPRIT. I WILL ALSO CHECK FROM THE BOARD TO THE MOTOR AND TO THE CAPACITOR FOR CONTINUITY HAVE A GOOD NITE

With washer off, check that tub moves freely. Had one Recently that had a faulty board. Motor would hum until ol protector opened circuit. Check cap with cap tester.

sure enough it was a broken wire from the capacitor to the motor. this wire was taped up from factory so it could not be seen. i connected it up and then when i went to calibrate it i notice that when it was time to agitate it wouldnt do it. to my surprice i had taken a look at the actuator and when reinstalling it i missed the latch to the slutch. man what a dummy anyway i reinstalled the little arm in to the loop of the slutch recalibrated it and its working fine.oh when i first calibrated it the spin led and the lid led would blink on and off when the machine was to agitate.  the slutch was stuck on the spin position even though the actuator was not in the slutch slot. guys this machibne ate my frijoles thanks guys  oh i used my ohmeter from the wires on the capacitor and the other end at the motor and i just kept inserting my real needle probe on the motor end wire until i finally got continuity
